Subject : Water Boil Out |
| |
I am working in Petrochemical plant project. We have all columns and reactor operation under vacuum but in pre commissioning, Reactor and column's water boil out is at atmospheric temperature.
Can we do it? Usually all equipments have limited pressure design capacity.

Subject : Diesel HDS reactor high dp |
| |
Our Diesel HDS reactor First bed dp rise is observed continuously and reached to maximum allowable range. Especially the rise is significant after an emergency shutdown and start up. One observation we made while keeping reactor under circulation during start up is, as soon as the stripper rundown is routed to reactor, feed filter frequency is going very high.
What are the probable causes for dp rise in reactor with respective to above observation.

Subject : Vacuum Tower Tube Failure |
| |
I'm searching for the procedures that should be used in a vacuum tower furnace tube failure. If we have a tube failure the vacuum tower pressure should be increased to atmosphere pressure? And generally what other items should be considered?

Subject : Deposition of fines in turboexpander FCC unit |
| |
In one of our FCC units (Kellogg Orthoflow model), we are suffering severe problems of fouling (fines deposition) in the turbo expander. The scheme of the flue gas circuit is: two stage cyclones in the regenerator + Shell Third Stage Separator before turbo expander + 4th Stage Separator (cyclone) to recover flue gas from fines coming from TSS.
We have also observed high level of moisture in the fines from 4th Stage Separator (10-15%wt). So we suspect that the fouling of the expander is due a cold point in the flue gas circuit (where flue gas humidity is condensed) or an uncontrolled inlet of water / steam.
Has anyone experienced this kind of problems in an FCCU? What could be the potential causes of the severe fouling of the expander?

Subject : Minimum MAT activity in FCC unit |
| |
My question is related with the minimum MAT activity that can be reached in a FCC unit. The main objective in one of our FCC units is maximum middles distillates, and we run this unit at very low severity. The MAT activity of the e-cat is 54-55%wt, with some punctual values of 52-53%wt.
We would like to decrease e-cat activity even further, but we have some concerns and doubts about potential problems that could arise, like definitive loss of cracking activity, significant increase in bottoms production, etc.
Has anyone experience running and FCC unit at MAT activity below 52-53%wt? What problems could appear with such low MAT activity?

Subject : Cleaning Amine Systems |

We recently cleaned a plant with Amine Gasoleos hydrodesulferised Coke in the Madero refinery in Mexico, the results were excellent but the system had formed many sludge. I would like to know the negative effects if Amine systems are not cleaned.

Subject : Foaming problem in RDS amine absorber |
| |
We had a foaming problem in our RDS unit last month, during the period of abnormal high level of absorber, we found a lot of particle plugged in lean amine supply pump filter (downstream of antifoam inject), and XRF analysis show high silicon content (>15 wt%), we wonder silicon-base antifoam cause agglomerate amine particle (iron sulfide, Carbon, etc), after an unplanned shutdown for cleaning amine absorber, we also found similar particle plugging absorber tray.
(1).has someone experienced the same problem in your amine absorber? (2).What is the best practice to treat antifoam? Shall we change silicon free type antifoam?
